Fogot to include the qyestion which is how to update KDE using apt. What should I point it at ?
1st question is do you really want to upgrade at the moment? It seems that the rpms are causing problems.... Never the less, the following should get you started: Have only the following 2 apt components in your sources.list file: kde and kde3-stable. - apt-get update - apt-get -s dist-upgrade Check for any missing depencies and include the related apt components, like base, update and the like. Once you are confidient to actually upgrade go ahead with: apt-get -d dist-upgrade "-d for download only". After the download has finished launch apt once more to actually perform the upgrade: apt-get dist-upgrade. Answer "y" to the question if you really want to upgrade. There should be no more than around 30 pkgs to be updated. Pay special attention to pkgs that will be removed.... -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
