Can anyone help me solve this prob?
I can't find a startup.perl on the system anywhere.
After getting the SuSE 6.3 Apache 1.3.12 update, and installing it
to the 6.3 Apache 1.3.9 my newely updated Apache refuses to start.
I used YAST to do the update and it did not note any probs.
The error msg at boot time is:
"[Tue Aug 8 15:44:29 2000] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper:
/usr/sbin/suexec)
[Tue Aug 15 15:47:29 2000] [notice] SIGUSR1 received. Doing graceful
restart

How can I fix this?

Try finding that file first, if it is needed. 'man locate'; the command 'locate' might help. As a last resort you could always type find / | grep -i startup.perl -- Darren Wyn Rees merlin@netlink.co.uk ASK your ISP to ADD the NEW england.* Newsgroups http://www.england.news-admin.org/accessfaq.html -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Darren & List users, Thanks for the quick reply! Locate and find as you suggested do not find "startup.perl". I think that (SuSE)Apache 1.3.12 conf file has that line pointing to "startup.perl" when the old 1.3.9 conf file did not. I realize that I may backout the 1.3.12 Apache that I installed via YAST, but I would like to get the new 1.3.12 working. YAST created a backup record in /var/admin/ that is a tarredup copy of the old httpd.conf, but I hesitate to use it since it is for the 1.3.9 version. Any advise is appreciated! .......Pete VC Darren Wyn Rees wrote:

Hi to List, I commented out line 873 in httpd.conf, Apache starts and works. But I don't know if this is a proper fix; does Apache 1.3.12 require that line? "Peter B. Van Campen" wrote:
