[opensuse] Kernel updates and nvidia driver

Just curious. Wasn't it the case that when a kernel update was done for openSUSE, eventually a new nvidia rpm that matches would make an appearance? Was that the case? If so, is it still the case? http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.1 contains: i586/kernel-*-3.1.9-1.4.1.i586.rpm ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.1 contains: i586/nvidia-*_k3.1.0_1.2-13.1.i586.rpm In fact, I have this combo running on my system and all seems ok. I was just surprised that the kernel versions were so different: 3.1.9 versus 3.1.0. Inquiring minds and all... -- Yours sincerely, Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Office: Int +46 10-615 60 20 Mobile: Int +46 70-815 1696 roger.oberholtzer@ramboll.se ________________________________________ Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. As long as the ABI stays stable and bug fixing doesn't require an update the weak update mechanism handle this. As the result the /lib/modules/3.1.9-*/weak-updates/updates/nvidia.ko sym link points to /lib/modules/3.1.0-1.2-default/updates/nvidia.ko for example in the case you're runnig your system with the default kernel flavour.
