Suse 7.1 kernel 2.4.17 kde 2.2.2
I get the following when renaming the file tar.gz.
gringo@gringo:~ $tar -zxvf divx4linux50-20020304.tar.gz gzip: stdin is a a multi-part gzip file -- get newer version of gzip tar: Child returned status 1 tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
I have had a look at the ftp.gnu.org site, but was hoping for a suse rpm package as my first choice.

Hi Brian,
Try 'step by step':
gunzip divx4linux50-20020304.tar.gz tar xvf divx4linux50-20020304.tar
Cheers ... Wolfi
While downloading DivX -despite my best efforts, the data downloaded onto my browser page (as unintelligible characters). In konqueror I had then saved this file under >location>save as. This was causing a problem. Later I used netscape and found the same thing. I had to cancel this download and repeatedly hold down the shift key to get the (save as) dialogue box. Once this was done the file uncompressed ok. Brian Marr On Mon, 25 Mar 2002 21:16, you wrote:
