[opensuse] KDE4 device notifier question
Hello: This is in openSUSE 13.2 with default KDE4 desktop (4.14.3). My device notifier settings are as: Removable devices: Enable automatic mounting of removable media: ON Only automatically mount removable media that has been manually mounted before: OFF Mount all removable media at login: ON Automatically mount removable media when attached: ON I would expect that when I insert/plugin a removable media it will be mounted automatically. But if I insert a media which has not been used before, it's not mounted. I have to mount it manually. This is in paradox with the setting of "Only automatically mount removable media that has been manually mounted before". Is this a bug, or a feature? Most importantly how can I fix it, so that when I insert a media it would be mounted automatically independent from if it was used before or not? Thanks, that is what I want. But it seems that I have some problem understanding English. I understood "Only automatically mount removable media that has been manually mounted before" as: Don't mount automatically [the inserted] removable media if it hasn't been mounted [at least once] manually before". Could a native English speaker please explain what I haven't understood correctly? Do not mount unless it has been mounted before. But want to mount all, even though it has not been mount before. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Patrick.
Do not mount unless it has been mounted before.
If say yes=true=on to this it means that "don't mount the device unless it has been mounted before". Correct? I want it to be mounted even if it hasn't been mounted, so I choose no-false=off. According to my logic the notifier acts the opposite way. This is what I don't understand.

Yes. Why "but"? I don't get it. Never mind. Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That is correct. Do not mount unless you have already had it mounted. In other words, a drive that you have had connected to *this * system before. If you have not had it mounted before, DO NOT MOUNT.
I want it to be mounted even if it hasn't been mounted, so I choose no-false=off. According to my logic the notifier acts the opposite way. This is what I don't understand.
Your choise as I understand you desires it to answer, NO
But want to mount all, even though it has not been mount before.
Yes. Why "but"?
But, because that option is *not* what you want, iiuc. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
