Hi all, I want to test opensuse on my new system by using opensuse LiveCD. How can I get opensuse LiveCD? Is it the normal opensuse DVD/CD iso file on opensuse.org? Regards, D. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's available as a torrent, but I wouldn't expect anyone is still seeding it: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/iso/torrent/openSUSE-10.2-GM-... -- Hypocrisy is the homage vice pays to virtue. -- François de La Rochefoucauld -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Download the LiveDVD here. http://download.opensuse.org/ -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
I ran LiveCD on my system and it works fine, but the result was disappointing because I had a dual head video card and there was no support for it since the video card was set to "Framebuffer" and it could not be changed. Also the resolution was poor. Can it be fixed when I instsall opensuse? D. James Knott wrote:

Yes. At a minimum, you can exploit the full resolution of the card for a single monitor. I'm not sure whether dual-head operation is supported by the open-source drivers, but I'm sure that if you retrieve and install the manufacturer's driver you can fully exploit the device's capabilities. You don't say what kind of video hardware you're using, but nVidia and ATI both make available Linux drivers, and that covers the large majority of cards. One thing to remember about those "Live" systems, is that they have to work on a wide range of equipment, which means they may do without the optimization you'd get in a regular install. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

========== I thought the same thing for a long time James. Try a Zenwalk 4.4.1 LiveCD before you decide though. ;-) Lee -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
