Any one know what this means?
I have seen this in my log files, but the drive runs fine as far as I can tell. Is this a result of hdparm? Mar 26 10:06:31 zeus kernel: hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error } Mar 26 10:06:31 zeus kernel: hdc: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC } Is the drive going bad? I have a brand new IBM drive I was going to put in another box..and hdc is /home only. I can move the data and replace the drive although I don't want to. It could be just the goof Maxtor drive and how Linux is using it. I noticed this error awhile ago, but didn't have time to screw with it. -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.

I've got a POS Maxtor drive and have gotten these messages since day 1. I get good transfer rates so I've tended to ignore them. Prolly not the smartest way to deal with them, but I've failed to find a reason for them too. If you find out anything, I'd be interested in hearing it. Cheers! Probably a bad IDE cable? Did you try another cable? Just a guess :) -- Nadeem Hasan nhasan@nadmm.com http://www.nadmm.com/ Ken Hughes wrote:
Well, I guess it's the cable. It's the answer I have been getting here..and it's the same thing I got from Jens Axboe who writes a lot of the IDE code in the kernel. It's good to still have contacts in that realm ;) -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.
