[opensuse] Lenovo T550 (Intel HD5500) experience?
I'm considering renewing my notebook and look for Lenovo T550 with Intel HD5500 and Full HD 19200x1080 display. I do not know what wireless is inside (this information is mostly unavailable on web sites). I have Lenovo product number but it is not present in product lists I can see on Lenovo site (not much surprised); in case someone knows it, it is 20CK001WRT. Anyone has practical experience? Question is mostly about video, wireless and touchpad/track point compatibility . Support for internal card reader is of course a bonus. I dont know about the T550, but my T530 with Intel HD 4000 is supported perfect by Opensuse 13.2 out of the box. Trackpoint/Touchpad didnt need any additional configuration!

You are missing the point. Lets look at the facts: - HD 4000 means "Ivy Bridge" aka 3.Gen "Core i_-3..." intro 2012 Q2 CPUs: Core i7: all mobile, Core i5: all mobile, Core i3 >= 3110M - HD 5500 means "Broadwell" aka 5.Gen "Core i_-5...U" intro 2015 Q1/Q2 CPUs: Core i7-5[56]00U, Core i5-5[23]00U, Core i3-50(05|10|15|20)U That is the actual Frontrunner of the Core-i Processors, and implies a "Intel 9 Series" Chipset aka "Wildcat Point". So, Andrei asks, "how good is the support for a hardware that fresh"? And Andrei, sorry, I have no idea, as I do not have the money for such hw. Hi, the advice for _any_ Linux distribution _always_ is, not to buy brand new hardware!
