I have an installation that I'm been putting together for a while now. But I need to save off whatever it is I've done and redo it onto a new hard drive and such. I was wondering if there is some way that I can save off everything that was done to some file and then re-read that file back into the installation process as the answer to all the questions. I think in SuSE 6 I could do this, but I don't know anymore. -- What about WRITING it first and rationalizing it afterwords? :-) -- Larry Wall in <8162@jpl-devvax.JPL.NASA.GOV>

You don't mention which version of SuSE you are using. On 8.2 using yast you can save & restore a package list. On the GUI mode YaST --> Install and remove Software --> File --> Export/Import On the Console mode yast --> Software --> Install and remove Software --> Etc. --> Selections --> -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------

In 8.1 there doesn't seem to be a way to do that (been looking for that a while ago), which is really p***ing me off... :( Hansen -- Powered by SuSE 8.1pro - KDE 3.0.3 - KMail 1.4.3 At least, try asking smart questions: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html When you love the work you do, you will never work a day in your life. - anon

Also under "backup", which of course, will save modified files from rpms. It is not a full backup, mind you. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
