Hi Cincai, I'm not having an answer on your question, I've a question for you or others using sgml/xml to write documents. I've installed the SuSE rpms related to docbook including psgml for xemacs. Now I want to write a docbook xml document with xemacs. It seems that xemacs can't find the dtd. What did I forget to get xemacs to write xml docs. Which catalog to specify e.g., or how should the SGML_CATALOG_FILES variable be specified. At this moment I've the following header as start in xml doc: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> <!DOCTYPE PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1.2//EN" "/usr/share/sgml/db41xml/docbookx.dtd"> ll /usr/share/sgml/db41xml/docbookx.dtd -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4654 Sep 19 2000 /usr/share/sgml/db41xml/docbookx.dtd Any help appreciated! I have this problem too. XEmacs will read DocBook 3.1 using the DTD: <!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook V3.1//EN"> and I'm sure it customised to work with 4.1 somewhere in the XEmacs configuration, but I don't immediately see how to do it. JDL Richard Bos wrote:

You should have the catalog files listed in /etc/sgml/catalog and then in your .bashrc or .profile.local export SGML_CATALOG_FILES=/etc/sgml/catalog -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

HTML Tidy can fix the HTML source. It's the 'tidy' package, series 'ap'. See "man tidy" for information about the formatting options. -- Robert Wohlfarth rjwohlfar@galaxyinternet.net "Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?" -- Matthew 6:25b
Thanks a lot I like this one as well!! How does one get the docbook.ccs stylesheets and its accompanion images (in stylesheet-images) activated in the resulting html output? Is there an argument for this in the db2html script??? I tried to insert the line: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="docbook.ccs"> But it looks like that this does not have any effect :( Op zondag 24 februari 2002 03:34, schreef Robert Wohlfarth:

You may need to add customization rules in your dsssl stylesheet. The one I use for the Unofficial SuSE FAQ has a simple dssl customization <!-- ;; ==================== ;; customize the html stylesheet ;; ==================== --> ;; use graphics in admonitions, and have their path be "stylesheet-images" ;; NO: they do not yet look very good ;; YES: it's better then empty pages (define %admon-graphics-path% "./stylesheet-images/") (define %admon-graphics% #t) ;; make funcsynopsis look pretty (define %funcsynopsis-decoration% ;; Decorate elements of a FuncSynopsis? #t) (define %graphic-default-extension% "gif") (define %html40% #t) ;;Netscape doesn't handle trademark ;;entity right at all!! Get rid of it. ;; taken from cogen.dsl ;; (element trademark (make sequence (process-children) (make element gi: "sup" (literal "TM"))))
I tried to insert the line: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="docbook.ccs">

If you are using dsssl you may need to create a customized dsssl stylesheet. There are two samples located under docbook-toys directory which are named suse-both.dsl and gdp-both.dsl. You can fin lot's (read as tons' of ) information ind the docbook documents and if you haven't figured yet Docbook Definitive Guide which is available downloadable should be your guide. I am using emacs (not Xemacs) heavily with SGML and XML and I even started writing the webpages with Norman Walsh's Website XML :-) Hope this helps -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
