When i browse the network i can't find my samba server, i do find the samba workgroup. When i try to browse the workgroup i am not able to connect to the shares.
You said you were using Firewall 2.1... Did you mean Mark Heuse's SuSEfirewall 2.1 package? If so, I think you're going to run into significant problems trying to run SMB/Samba shares on the same machine as SuSEfirewall is running on. You can try setting FW_PROTECT_FROM_INTERNAL="no" in your /etc/rc.firewall configuration file and see if that does the trick. If I recall correctly though, SMB traffic simply isn't passed and SuSEfirewall might be interfering on the internal side if it isn't configured correctly. I avoided the whole problem by running SuSEfirewall on a bargain basement machine without much disk space, and I host files via Samba on a completely different machine, inside the firewall. Hi everyone, The last few days I'm trying to mount a directorie. This directorie is located at a win98-machine, and can be reached by FTP and by Samba over a local network, and is going to be mounted on a SuSE6.2 machine. I've tried smbmount, but after a while the connection is reset (?): the mounted directorie disappears in the filesystem, but is still listed in "mount". * What do I have to do to make it a permanent connection? * Is it possible to mount this directorie by FTP? Hope someone can help, Reinder -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
