The public beta period is finished for now. Cheers, Curtis. :) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/cVGJiqnGhdjCOJsRAk3SAJ94aFAUTtBnLb1fcasnQAKz1HJ4MgCfXT3Y NB1tLghDOIYZU2h6ClBvs8c= =LC40 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

That only begs the questions... 1) When did the public beta period actually get finished? 2) How long after the closure of the beta does the product _usually_ hit the "shelves" (or online order forms)? Regards, dk

Well.. I read on LWN that amazon.de has it for pre-order (Oct 23). Not only that, but there is a 64 bit edition of Pro (I would assume for Opteron/Athlon64 machines) This in turn begs the question "When can I (pre)order the Update version from SuSE?" :) -- trey

Well Trey's post addresses the question regarding the approximate release date of circa Oct. However, though the beta has ended the bug hunt still continues. Not to say there are an inordinate amount of bugs, but the testers are encouraged to continue to post bug when found regardless of the beta program schedule. So, as I tweak and futz (when I have a free moment or two - not easy for me this beta cycle), if I run across a bug here or a kludge there I post to the beta site. The SuSE devel cycle seems to me to be an ongoing process. Yes they come out with dedicated versions and plan their devel around this as well. But if one looks over the long term one sees that is more or less perpetual. Personally I'm waiting for the second 2.6.x release - since anything that is rough around the edge in the 1st 2.6 release should be smoothed out. 2.6 should rock quite nicely to say the least. Once this new kernel is adopted and shaking out it will be a marked step forward IMHO. The devs just quitely plug along - kinda like keep digging and digging until they hit gold, then they start digging again, and again, and.... Such is the life of a Linux code hacker - it never really ends. Look to Sourceforge.net for SuSE 9.0 loads.... just downloaded the 9/11 version of WINE and low and behold a SuSE 9.0 rpm build is available. God bless the USA. I love it! On Thu, 2003-09-25 at 22:13, Curtis Rey wrote:

Cool. Now I can have wine ready before SuSE gets here. BTW... It's Lo and behold (Lo means Look)... -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
