[SLE] IMAP server in /etc/inetd.conf
I have tried to start an imap-server on a new-installed SuSE 6.4. I could'nt get connection to the server from telnet to port 143 or from Outlook Express. When I changed the line in /etc/inetd.conf from imap2 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd to imap stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd imapd it worked. Have I messed everything up when searching for a solution, or is the SuSE standard installation "buggy"? ... I had the same problem, could receive but not send mail from KMail. Now everything works except netscape messenger. Get a "failed to connect to server" and "connection refused" message. Did the install over SUSE 6.3 somehow corrupt the permissions somewhere? On Wed, 31 May 2000, Morten Christensen wrote:
