[opensuse] KDE newbie - performance monitoring?
All, I use ps, top, vmstat, iostat, etc. all the time from the CLI. What's available for performance monitoring via GUI? Hey, nice. That one's new to me. The tray icon is nice. I've taken to keeping top or htop running in a Konsole tab so when something peculiar happens, I can quickly switch over there to see what's up. This is even better. Thanks for the tip.

I do also. You have an instant indication of load all the time. GKrellm is quite similar and give an indication of net access and hard disk usage, vital temps and fan speeds, but is rather intrusive on the desktop :^(
Thanks for the tip.
I gain much from the lists, it's pleasing to be able to pass some of it on occasionally :^) cu -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I know he packaged it for guru. I mean on the dvd, and I suppose that's not his decision. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. gkrellm is good and if you want something a bit less intrusive, as one writer mentioned, try conky. Not much you can't program that one to do! Lee -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yeah, I like conky. It's got some great options and I need to customize it some more. -- Jonathan Arnold (mailto:jdarnold@buddydog.org) Linux Brain Dump - Linux Notes, HOWTOs and Tutorials: http://www.linuxbraindump.org Daemon Dancing in the Dark, an Open OS weblog: http://freebsd.amazingdev.com/blog/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
