Does anyone know where can I find a driver for the SATA controller Silicon Image 3114. This is a very popular controller, but SuSE 9.0 Pro can't detect the SATA harddisk using this controller. VIA is OK, but no luck with sil3114. Any help will be very appreciated. Regards, Martin _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? A recent article I read noted three SATA controllers/chipsets presently supported by the 2.4.xx kernel and all should be well supported under the 2.6.x kernel. Those listed were: 3ware Escalade 8500 card--3w-xxxx driver Silicon Image chipset Intel ICH5 -- 2.4.22 kernel Hope that helps others buying a mobo with SATA. Do you have a link for the article, please?

As evident in the ongoing discussions there still seem to be some question marks over the kernel support for ICH5. But maybe that .22 is the answer. Do SUSE have a stable .22 that can be used instead of the .21 that is shipped with SUSE 9.0? Cheers, Dave

Is there maybe another manufacturer that uses the 3ware chip but that make a card I can stick into my normal PCI slot? Thanks -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy hansdp@newingtoncs.co.za

Dave, Believe the article was in Linux Journal, the magazine, not the site. As I was reading thru it, I jot down notes that might be important to building that next system. ;o) Lee -- --- KMail v1.6 --- SuSE Linux Pro v9.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
