No Sound on ASUS A7V8X-X board + SuSE 9.0
Greetings Several hours looking for info have borne no fruit. Has anyone on this list seen this problem? /var/log/messages yields: kernel: ALSA via82xx.c:704: invalid via82xx_cur_ptr, using last valid pointer kernel: ALSA via82xx.c:520: codec_valid: codec 0 is not valid [0x87e5370] Should I buy a cheapo sound card instead? TIA for any help.

Did you uploaded the latest drivers from mobo manufacturer? -Stathis

I have found no Linux drivers for this board at the ASUS site. Maybe I'm missing something? I did flash the board with the latest BIOS just in case. Also, to make sure it was not a hardware problem, I loaded Windows 2000 and the sound is OK.

My err. Try VIA's site. I have almost the same mobo (without the -X suffix) and was able to compile sources from VIA. -Stathis.
