I seem to have a weird problem with netscape it keeps exiting on its own accord, when looking at websites, sometimes straight away sometimes after 5 or 10 minutes of surfing. It started with the updated to version 4.73 from the SuSE update site, so I went back to version 4.72 and it stills does it, I am using SuSE 6.4 on a pentium. Any help would be most appreciated. -- -- ________________________________________________________ | Fight Spam! Brent I am having the same problem, except on my Netscape 4.73 what happens is I'll be using it for awhile, and then all of a sudden the netscape window washes out. Or like you say it just exits... Weird... Patrick ditto on the help from anybody Brent Murray wrote:

Hi First of all thanks for the info about the Athlon(Didn't send before cause i think I would have increase your telephone bill, and mine ;oP ) For you Murray hope we find a solution. I have the same problem since I installed RH 5.2 on my old crappy 486/100. The netscape monster is memory hunger, I have always thoght, but I increase my RAM and it is still crashing. Well, maybe more power, so I upgarde to a Cyrix MII 233(I know...I know... bad choice) and it still crash or it freezes. Some friends have the same problem with PII 400 and 64 Mb. So I dont expect to work ok on my new Athlon. Sorry about the mispelling and gramatics, I not a native speaker..... -- Nauta nauta@heleogabalo.com.ar ICQ=49972037 PD: Visite www.heleogabalo.com.ar On Mon, 10 Jul 2000, you wrote:

OK, I'm running a stock version of SsuSE 6.4 with a SCSI system and a 256Meg RAM box with an AMD K6-2 400Mhz chip. Absolutely no problem with Netscape 4.3. Yes Netscape uses memory, just like StarOffice 5.2, etc. Regards /Dee -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

SuSE released an update for the xshared package (xshared-3.3.6-43). The package description says `xshared 3.3.6: fix for crash in callback functions (netscape et.al.)'. hi a few months ago , i had given the problem under "alternative web browser". This thing with netscape keeps bugging me also. I've found that it always occurs when i'm switching from a virtual console to the X and it occurs both in KDE and GNOME. There arre a lot of netscape processes with lots of memory leakage ( one of the processes used 20% ram for itself) and my system goes very low on memory. The thing is it happens with netscape v4.7(2,3) , netscape v6.00 pre. i don't know why this happens but the system keeps opening netscape quality control feedback window after each crash. One more thing. Under netscpae 6 , the X itself crashes.. I just get logged out and the kdm screen comes up. If i use startx , i get a core dump with a message to file the bug report What the hell's happening ? cheers cheedu On Mon, 10 Jul 2000, Brent Murray wrote:
