Journaling file system(s) question (replay transaction journal)
Hi, Anyone have an idea how ¨replay transaction journal¨ works (if it works at all) in this case: 2-partition schema: /hda1 - /(root) reiserfs or ext3 /hda2 - /swap I suspect that ¨replay transaction journal¨ (required after system crash/freeze/hang or power outage) may not work because kernel is located on the same partition, and therefore, it cannot be unmounted and remounted in rw mode by fsck. I had this problem with ext3 (on the startup I´ve got a message that file system on /(root) need maintenance). Unfortunately, I am mistakenely reformatted HD, and therefore, cannot figure out exactly what went wrong. On the another HD it was not a problem since it was formatted: /hda1 - /boot ext2 /hda2 - /swap /hda3 - /(root) reiserfs If anyone knows exactly, please clarify Thanks in advance Andrei Verovski (aka MacGuru)
