Hi, I don't understand the exact technical language, but I do understand that Corel is supporting the WINE initiative with manpower (=$$$$) See <A HREF="http://www.winehq.com/corel.txt"><A HREF="http://www.winehq.com/corel.txt</A">http://www.winehq.com/corel.txt</A</A>> for more. I use WABI, and was extremely disappointed when SUN dropped further development. I guess it had something to do with win31 licensing being easier to get than that for win32's. Then I heard last year that there is a win32 emulator running on on some big unix platform, but not linux. Why not on linux also? I know that wabi is limited, like only 256 colors, and no sound. I hope the final WINE emulator is better in this respect. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I'm just guessing here, but these other companies (SCO with Merge) developed their product using their labor to promote their products. If they release the source code (remember, the big Unix companies like Sun and SCO are like MS in that they don't release source code) to the Linux developers, then they are releasing some of their competitive advantage in a niche market. As a manager, even though I love Linux, I would not release corporate assets in this fashion - it's not in the stock-holder's best interest. Sun, on the other hand, released WABI after Win95 was released, and after they had developed superior products for their workstations. I may be off here, but then Sun is rather unconventional in their management and thinking. Personally, I don't think MS has released anything useful since early 1995. Office 4.3 is much better than Office 97 in terms of usability and crash resistance. Sounds interesting, but could you verify the URL? George - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
