Re: [opensuse] File locations with SSD

My question is: Should the /tmp and /run files be moved from the SSD to the data drives to reduce writes on the SSD? If not, why?
Some people do. And /var/log. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Just to ensure, it is applicable for 13.1, right? And what exactly does that swap trick? What about if I have only 2 GB RAM? I'm running LXDE on that machine, anyway, not much RAM and often it is (almost) full. So I'm not sure if it is good idea to live without swap... I also doubt I have enough RAM to move /tmp there... What is recommended then?

oh... I have the same one and also tried an SSD: no significant result - it's the processor that is the bottleneck. I setted back the original disk and used the ssd in my main tower where it shines :-) jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
