I do not think you have to allow port 20 if you are using NAT. Is this a true router or a PC acting as a router? If it is a true router, post your config, if you don't mind, or send privately and I can see if I can help. I have ran into this problem a lot in the past. I was using pasv mode... but I don't have port 20 set to pass... Spunk
This is because your router is using NAT to map from the outside. You must use an FTP client that allows passive transfers. FTP also uses port 20 as
a
control port.
For example, if you are using CuteFTP, on the advanced tab you can select PASV mode, or I think older versions have a Use Firewall option.
Hope this helps, Chuck

I'm using a SMC Barricade router and passing port 21 to my SuSE box. I'm at work now and trying to connect... I connect, it sets to passive mode, and attempts to list directory but times out and never lists the directory. I am definitely connecting but for some reason am not getting the directory listing. Could I have the port that the "handshake" is using blocked? I'm not sure... Spunk <p>>
