Hi! I'm thinking about purchasing a CD burner and so looked at the component list at suse.com. I now have two sets of questions: 1. What do the following mean in the "status" column? empty x.y (This often follows "supported".) seperate [sic] program x.y link (obviously not hypertext!) 2. I am going to get an IDE/ATAPI interface if I do this. Does anyone here have any specific products fitting that description they'd like to reccommend? Thanks. pretty much any cd burner will work under linux. go with scsi if you have the money. if you get ide, go with yahama, plextor, teac, or anything else in that order. to use an ide drive you will need to setup your kernel for scsi emulation. there was an earlier thread about this. Take some advice from someone who knows from experience. Spend the money and buy a Yamaha SCSI burner. You can get a nice 16 speed for less than 300.00 dollars (US). Avoid cheapie ATAPI burners like the plague. I went through an entire 20 pack of verbatum's learning that lesson. Yeah this is an investment but think about it. THis is your data here. End of rant.
