Help! Cannot on install 8.2 on Mylex DAC960
Hi.
We are upgrading our server (Intel 440LX+ based) and fall into following
problem.
When trying to boot SuSE 8.2 either from CD or from floppies, regardles
of intsall mode (Installation, ACPI off, Safe mode, Manual) it hangs
when loading DAC960 module:
DAC960: ***** DAC960 RAID Driver Version 2.4.20aa1 of ... *****
DAC960: Copyright 1998-2001 by Leonard N. Zubkoff

I am no guru but for what its worth I have a system with a Mylex accelraid 250 (DAC960) and an adaptec 2940 Both add in cards and it works ok. Are you installing the system on a raid drive as I think this is not possible. Tho I,m sure someone will put me right.

and hang forever. The same if for aic7xxx module (aic7896/97 integrated on MB).
If you are not using the controller that is integrated on the motherboard, disable it, and make certain that during SuSE's attempt to load modules for detected hardware you answer NO to any of the Adaptec modules it wants to load. -- Using SuSE Linux 8.2
