AGAIN - Mounting point Firewire port
Hi, This is the second time around. I can not believe that nobody on this list is . not . using a firewire device. Please.. Asume that everything is working .. where would the . firewire . port be mounted or the drive be found .. /mnt or /media or whatever. USB is found in /media. This technology is new to me and I do not know what to expect on the system. Kindly please some pointers on this matter. Is it? I must have missed it the first time then.

I connect my iPod to my SuSE 9.0 Pro box via Firewire.

When I connect my iPod; it shows up on /dev/sdb2. It doesn't automatically mount itself for whatever reason; so I added an entry to my /etc/fstab so that I can mount it under /media/ipod/ -- Mark McKibben http://www.coffeebear.net/ "The price of freedom of religion, or of speech, or of the press, is that we must put up with a good deal of rubbish." - Robert Jackson

I use my freecom firewire disk on SuSE 9.1. It works... The system is completetly rewriten under 9.1 so you need to specify if you are using 9.1 or other... Jerry

Okay, I'm using a Firewire external hard drive (Lacie), and it mounts automatically using subfs. The mount entries are: /dev/sda1 on /media/ieee1394_sbp2-00d04b471d0787c8-0-0p1 type vfat (rw) /dev/sda2 on /media/ieee1394_sbp2-00d04b471d0787c8-0-0p2 type reiserfs (rw) Hope that helps somewhat.
