[opensuse] Hibernation failure on 12.1
Hello openSUSers, Today I lack attention on my screen and I have not noticed that my laptop battery was near to the limit so system had shutdown abruptly. I thought it will get hibernate but this has not happened, it really shutdown totally then I had to reboot. Wonder if this is a known issue or not. More system details on my signature below. Hi Marco ;) How is your system setup for power management? Before we can answer your questions, we would benefit from some additional information such as which desktop you use (Gnome, KDE, etc.) and versions. If you use KDE, go to power management (Start > Configure Desktop > Power management) and set the battery level at which the laptop should go into hibernation mode. There should be something similar in any current desktop. Hi Tom, Sorry to have not specified such important details. I was using Gnome Gnome 3.2.1/Cinnamon at the moment of the failed Hibernation. Power Management is setted to "hibernate when battery reaches critical value". Hi Marco, I don't use Gnome but there should be a setting for critical level of the battery that is user available. It may go by some other name (power saving, etc.) and would probably have settings for "low" & "critical" as well as settings for what is done under each condition. If this doesn't help in your case send us another post, possibly with screenshots of your settings. In gnome 11.4 there is no definition of "low" or "critically low", and I suspect 12.1 is similar in this respect. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
