Hi, How can i know what all parameters (no. of users, pages, append, mem, etc) the kernel will accept?? Is there any documentation for this or can i get the parameters from any system command or man pages?? See SuSEs manual or /usr/src/linux/Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt. Ciao, Stefan -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

im unsure i fully understand the question, but i'll try to provide some help anyway..:) your looking for the upper limits of the kernel? some of them can be located in /proc. some of them can be changed in /proc. also, check the source: /usr/src/linux/include/linux/limits.h hope this helps...:) -- ======================================================================== Rocky McGaugh Atipa Linux Solutions Product Development www.atipa.com rocky@smluc.org rmcgaugh@atipa.com ======================================================================== -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Hi, Hi!! Sorry for the late reply. I was not able to access this and hence the delay. Basically, i am interested in fine tuning the kernel parameters since my m/c at office which is a P III with 256 MB ram and loaded with 6.2 seems to hang sometimes when using any system command like cp, mv, tar etc. The mouse cursor seems to momentarily hang after a few seconds after linking or compile libraries or execution of any system commands. I was not getting this problem when i had 5.3 installed on my m/c. The kernel recognises the system's ram as 256 MB. I browsed thro' the file limits.h and could make out a few things like CHILD MAX, OPEN MAX, etc. How can i set these parameters to the kernel?? Raghav Rocky McGaugh wrote:
