Hello, I would like to ask: What would I need to do to install SuSE 7.3 from FTP through a LAN gateway? That's all... Regards, Carlos.

Hello, I would like to ask: What would I need to do to install SuSE 7.3 from FTP through a LAN gateway?
Well, first and foremost, you'd have to get a version of 7.3 that is installable via FTP, which won't be available for a few weeks yet. :) If you want to install 7.2 on Intel, that's a different story. Get the boot, modules1 and modules2 disks from the FTP directory, and boot from them. You need to manually set up the IP configuration of the machine you're installing (IP, Netmask, DefaultRoute, DNS, FTP Proxy), and you need the IP address of a good mirror (such as ftp.gwdg.de), as well as the full path to the FTP install media (which, on gwdg is /pub/linux/suse/i386/7.2, IIRC). It's pretty simple once you've done it. ===== -- -=|JP|=- Hit me! - http://www.xanga.com/cowboydren/ Jon Pennington | Debian 2.3 -o) cowboydren @ yahoo . com | Auto Enthusiast /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | ICQ UIN 69 67 29 31 _\_V __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
