My brother is in Lubbock and I'm here in NY. He has a new HP 1520n box which doesn't have a serial nor parallel port, just USB. Neither the Zoom external modem (internal is a winmodem) nor the printer (HP Laserjet that worked with SUSE, old release) are seen by 10.1. I can't get hands on with that box and can't get SUSE to see either. I'd certainly appreciate any ideas on how to force 10.1 to work with these devices! Thanks in advance, Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 5.x

So he's running an older release of SuSE right now? Can he run a 'hwinfo' to get some information on the chips involved?

No, as I wrote it's 10.1.....shipping packaged release.

'Going to have him do that, but I don't think SUSE even sees either connected to a USP port. 'Bloze DID see both when he first got the "box." Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 5.x

Seems to me there was a thread here a week or two ago about running some hp specific PTAL and/or HPLIP packages which then causes hpoj to work. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

'Must be I missed it. :( Too much mail and not enough time to read it all. ;) Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 5.x
