[opensuse] fonts after kernel update
Hello all: I've experienced recently something that never before. On a 10.1 system I updated the kernel from 2.6.16.21-0.13- default to 2.6.16.27-0.6-default. Naturally I had to rebuild the NVIDIA driver too. After starting my KDE (3.5.5 "release 45.1") desktop I noticed that the fonts on the desktop are much larger than before. Also the menu, taskbar etc. fonts were increased. I guess this could be caused by the rebuilt NVIDIA drivers. However as I used the same NVIDIA package as before (with the previous kernel) the reason in the difference should lie in the different kernel. Can someone explain this phenomena? Thanks, IG __________________________________________ Ezt olvasta Magyarország 2006-ban! http://www.bookline.hu/control/shlist?id=883&affiliate=fresikkar3412 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Your X DPI is different now than it was before you changed your driver. Check before and after xorg.conf files for "UseEDID". It may not have been used before but is now, or vice versa. If enabled now, try disabling it, or vice versa. On DPI and fonts generally, here are some resources: http://mrmazda.no-ip.com/auth/Font/fonts-linux-about.html -- "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Hi Felix: Thanks for your help. I've checked my /etc/X11/xorg.conf current and the previous one (I had a backup of that). None of them contains anything like UseEDID. I will check the link you gave though.
