Hello world. I've a serious hardware problem. More than one year I've used D865GBFL (Intel motherboard) with 3WARE Escalade 7006-2 ATA RAID Controller with two Seagate Barracuda 120G ATA disks and SuSE 9.0. And I've tested it with new SuSE 9.2 (all worked fine). Now I've got D-Link DFE580TX Four-port ethernet card. After installation of this adapter into my computer the server started to hang from several seconds/minutes of work. It happens and with another PCI a card - Cronyx PCI (8port RS232 controller (http://www.cronyx.ru)). I have not had time to establish the driver of these devices at all! But! All works well if to establish my 3WARE 7006-2 and simple Intel Ethernet Card i82557. Strange. Who knows, why my controllers do not work in pair with 3WARE Escalade 7006-2 ? P.S. I've tested it situation with another intel mother board D865GLCL (i865G chipset too). The result is the same. But All my devices are work fine on a 440BX chipset. (Test on a old ASUS motherboard without needed productivity) Thank you for any future help. Nick.

Nick, I have had some PCI-bus problems with Intel Motherboards and 3ware cards. They only showed up if I tried to have 2+ 3ware cards in the same machine. For me the solution was to get a firmware upgrade from Intel and upgrade my motherboards. Greg -- Greg Freemyer

Hello, so what you think about non-Intel motherboards? Is the problem with Intel mother board? And wiil be all right with another vendor ? Or this is a bug of 865G chipsets? Nick

Nick, I may have been unclear. I only use Intel motherboards, so I can't speak to others. The upgrade I was talking about was a pure firmware upgrade, not a hardware upgrade. Greg

YES! Of course. I've installed latest firmware for motherboard and for 3ware card. And check it on a vendors site every days! nick

There has been some talks about 3ware products on the suse-amd64@suse.com list. One person mentioned that 3ware drivers works with 9.2 for another controller so that might be you fix ;-) I don't know a thing about those multiport NIC's ... but I'd like to have one/two to be able to let my homeserver do the routing ;-)
