Hi, I'm running OS 11.3 with KDE4 and kaffeine doesn't load subtitle files. Also the menu option to load them manually are grayed out. http://kaffeine.kde.org/?q=faq#question9 kdebase4-runtime-xine-4.4.4-2.4.x86_64 kaffeine-0.9+1.0pre3-6.2.x86_64 libxine1-1.1.19-1.pm.44.1.x86_64 libxine1-gnome-vfs-1.1.19-1.pm.44.1.x86_64 libxine1-codecs-1.1.19-1.pm.44.1.x86_64 phonon-backend-xine-4.4.2-1.6.x86_64 Any suggestions? Regards,
Unless you have a very special reason to use kaffeine, replace it with vlc - does everything kaffeine can do and then some..... With vlc you can watch TV, play DVDs, stream video, capture TV programs or streamed video, play CDs - and you can even do some editing of video files if I remember correctly (haven't used this feature for some time). (kaffeine has been what is used to be for about 12 moths+ now. If you compare the controls for it now as against what they were back then you will find that many have been "omitted" in the current version(s).) But, of course, it is a matter of personal choice. I have VLC on other machine (openSUSE 11.2) and VLC kills the audio every 2 or 3 executions, I have to restart alsasound to make it come back.... Regards,
Ah, it sounds (no pun intended) that you do not have all the plugins installed. Do you have the pulseaudio plugin for vlc installed for example? (The latest vlc, BTW, is 1.1.1 or *.2.) What I would be suggesting is to uninstall vlc and then re-install it so that it picks up all the relevant files for itself.
