system freezes with kernel 2.2.19
Hi all, I got kernel 2.2.19 sources (lx_sus22-2.2.19.SuSE-25.i386.rpm) from suse some time ago. Now I finally came round to compile and install it. But unfortunately I got some problems with it. Every now and then my system simply freezes completely :-(( It doesn't respond to any keyboard action nor pings from another machine... I have do do a hard reboot to get it back. There's nothing in the logs indicating any problems before freezing, but then the discs don't get synced before reboot. I have SuSE 6.3 with all the security related updates. Has anyone experienced similar problems, or has any ideas what the problem could be? Right now I'm back to running kernel 2.2.18 but I'm going to try if the precomiled kernel gives the same problems. Any help would be welcome. Bye, Frederik -- "A computer programmer is someone who, when told to "Go to Hell", sees the "Go to", rather than the destination, as harmful."
