are the versions of apps on the above site, such Totem identical to the the versions on the official repositories, the version number is the same. Ie. do these versions have the bits of code left in that Suse take out for legal reasons TIA Richard

We haven't removed any code. The according plugins are just packaged in an rpm we cannot distribute. You can compile xine-lib.spm yourself and get the codecs.
