[opensuse] x11vnc crashing X
I use an ssh tunnel plus x11vnc to remote control my main computer (running openSUSE11.4/KDE4.6) at home. Lately - actually since I've installed 11.4 and the x11vnc from the repos (0.9.12) - when I connect and launch x11vnc, it usually brings down X within a couple minutes. This isn't limited to openSUSE... I've had the exact same issue on Ubuntu 10.10 last week. I've poked around with Google and discovered this has been an on and off issue for x11vnc for a long time, although it's never happened to me until I installed 11.4. So... I'm not particularly hung up on using x11vnc... I just use it because it (usually) works, and it's simple to launch from the command line. Is it worth chasing this issue? or does anyone have a suggestion for a decent alternative? My basic requirements are, I need/want to use an ssh tunnel to my computer, and run the VNC via that tunnel. My VNC session should connect to the existing running session, not start a new session. This is known, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=673575 for a work-around and a patch.

Thanks. Using: x11vnc -xkb -noxrecord and x11vnc no longer crashes the X server sesion. C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
