http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUSE says: %; quote ;% On August 4th, 2005, Novell spokesman and director of public relations Bruce Lowry announced that their SUSE Professional series will become completely open source and renamed OpenSUSE to reach a wider audience. The software, by definition of open source, already had their coding "open", but now the development process will now be "open", allowing developers and actual users to test the product. As part of the change, YaST Online Update server access will be complimentry for OpenSUSE users, and along the lines of most open source distributions, there will be a free download available on the web. It is rumored that Novell will sell a boxed edition of OpenSUSE, in addition. This change in philosophy starts with the 10.0 beta, released at the 2005 Linux World Conference. %; unquote ;% I think there's a problem here. The sentences: 1. "the SUSE Professional Series will become ... renamed OpenSUSE" 2. "Novell will sell a boxed edition of OpenSUSE" both assume and imply that the software has been renamed to OpenSUSE. In fact, as has been affirmed on this list, it's only the project that's continuing the development of SuSE Pro 9.3 in an open manner that is called openSUSE (so capitalized) and the product resulting from it will be called SUSE LINUX 10 (no "Professional" and no small u in SUSE [??]). Please advise me on this so I can change the Wikipedia page, or if you change the Wikipedia page yourself, please inform me. Thanks. -- Shriramana Sharma http://samvit.org

Well, instead of opening a discussion page there where potentially people who don't know their stuff will poke in, this is the authoritative forum for openSUSE, so what the people say here, I will take as authority and write it to Wikipedia myself. That's why I await an authoritative response here. -- Shriramana Sharma http://samvit.org
