Midi works in general since I can use KMidi to play Midi files. I don't think I broke any configuration files (i.e. timidity.cfg is the same and is in same path and same environment variable points to it.)
I don't use UMP as I cannot get plain timidity to compile. Plugger is open source and should be on your SuSE CD. I altered my /etc/pluggerrc as follows and it seems ok. audio/midi: midi, mid: MIDI audio file audio/x-midi: midi, mid: MIDI audio file : kmidi $file many: timidity -s 44100 -a -idqqqqqqq $file : playmidi $file Have fun - dproc -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Thanks for the tip, it worked for me. The only thing is that every time a midi file plays, KMIDI pops up on the screen. Is there any way to get KMIDI to start up Minimized? Thanks, Jerry VB dproc@dol.net wrote:

Thanks, Jerry VB
That would be neat. I don't know the answer. However with kmidi appearing on the screen, I can use the seek, play stop and pause buttons, and the volume control. And users know where the sound is coming from :-) dproc -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
