[SLE] A proper image format for transparent logo background and layers?
Hello Linux folks! I was trying to create a couple of logos with transparent background and three layers in GIMP. It was pretty easy. But when I tried to export and save my logos I stacked with the problem what image format can handle transparency and layers in the same time. This image format should be easy readable with any browser over Internet. Does somebody know the answer? Any help is gladly appreciated. I do alot of work on the web and as far as I know this is not possible. The transparency is not a problem, just save as a gif. Unfortunately gifs are limited in color and you have to merge the layers into one. There is a way to make jpg images that can do transparency which gives you more colors, but I don't think all browsers can view them properly since normal jpg images don't do transparencies and you still loose the layers. There are other image types you can look into, but I don't think any of them will be handled by all browsers. If you want to make your images available with the layers intact I would suggest making a gif version for your page with a link to a version that still has the layers for people to download. Good luck. If I am wrong and there is a new way to do this I would also be interested in knowing, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Darren R.
