[opensuse] Print to file PDF Firefox 2 & Konqueror
Hi all, I need to print to PDF from FireFox2. When print is selected, only the "Print to file PostScript/default" option is available besides the normal printers. OpenOffice Writer produces PDF's flawlessly. I have also read that Ghostscript 5.10 upwards installs ps2pdf. I have an Installed SUSE 10.1 with ghostscript 8.15.3-18.2 library & ghostscript-x11 V 8.15.2rc1-20. Print to PDF of web page contents is possible in Konqueror, but delivers this error message. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A print error occurred. Error message received from system: ps2pdf -sPAPERSIZE=a4 '/tmp/kde-abc/kdeprint_V1ln5etb' $out{/home/abc/Documents/List Parameter - Detail.pdf} && kmailservice 'mailto:?attachment=file:$out{/home/abc/Documents/List Parameter - Detail.pdf}' && sleep 15 && rm -f $out{/home/abc/Documents/List Parameter - Detail.pdf} : execution failed with message: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- What could this mean? :-) Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

select this option, go to properties and replace all the stuff there by "kprinter". This will lead you to the kde print manager that have pdf.

? never had this problem as a test, you could print your page to a file then use ps2pdf in a console to see the messages jdd -- http://www.dodin.net Le manuel d'optique de Lucien Dodin http://lesprismes.free.fr/optique/index.html -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

THANK YOU!!!!! I had tried several differnt items on my laptop to get this to work and never found it. I'm going to write a brief thingy on it on my website. While at work or on the road, my laptop may not have a printer attached and I often want to save a capture of a web page as a receipt or whatnot. I even had FF running from a script that I found on kde-look but it didn't quite work for the print dialog. (The save dialog is the better KDE one though.) -- kai Free Compean and Ramos http://www.perfectreign.com/?q=node/46 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It worked great! Firefox also remembers this "kprinter" entry for the future in the PostScript/Default option. Thanx a lot. Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi, I followed the instructions from the web-site to the letter. All with no errors at all, the PDF printer shows up in all printerdialogs. I select it, it prints, no errors - as far as I can tell. Eh, where are my pdf file then ? The web-site says do: #lpadmin -p PDF -v pdf:/directory/of/your/choice/ -E -P /usr/share/cups/model/distiller.ppd The directory of my choice was /home/vk/Documents/somedir/ What is it that I do not understand? -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I forgot to mention it, sorry. I don't know why, but CUPS needs there an output folder with the 777 rights. So test it eg. in /tmp. I have CUPS on a server runnig and linked the output to a read/write nfs-export, so everybody can access it. Alternativ you can setup your sendmail to deliver a copy to you. There is a Howto out there. Just google for it. thx Jan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
