Hi, I need some feedback from people who are successfully running Real Player under suse linux 5.1. I have a PII machine with SB16 AWE64 value. The kernel was compiled with audio support, the soundcard is working OK (CD players work fine), etc... Still I get an error message when I try to use RP (play a .ram file): "Can not open audio device. For more information see error 50 at http://....". The permissions for /dev/audio are OK. The info on the Real Player's website did not help - everything that could give this error is set properly..When I try to play the RP welcome message I get some mess instead of a picture and no audio, but the error message is not there. Any ideas? Thank you, Anton - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Use the .mailcap & .mime.types that come with RealAudio 5.0 . That should help greatly and be sure it's in your path somehow. There is more than one way to get it in your path so if you need help here post another request. -Dee ---------------------------------- W.D.McKinney (Dee) deem@wdm.com No Claim to Fame, Saved by Grace ---------------------------------- - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
Just because the CD player works doesn't mean the Sound Card is set up properly. A CD-ROM has a direct cable to your sound card bypassing any driver type stuff... W.D.McKinney wrote:

your rvplayer dir must be added to your path and ld_library_path in /etc/profile (if you're a bash user) export PATH=$PATH:/opt/rvplayer (or wherever it is on your system) export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/rvplayer then make sure to cp RAPlayerclass and RAObserverclass to your netscape plugins directory, and then symlink librvplayer.so from your netscape plugins dir as well Anton Anastassov wrote:
