RE: [SLE] stupid question - sorry!
Bernd
For some strange reason, the permissions on my /windows directory and contents were changed to rwxr--r--. All other directories in / are listed as rwxr-xr-x (except for /tmp & /root). I need user permissions on the /windows directory. I have read the man for chmod. I have googled chmod, changing file permissions, and changing directory permissions. All say the same thing. I did chmod -vR 755 /windows and it quickly ran through all the files showing the changes, yet when checking the properties for the files and directories, nothing has changed. I still do not have user access to /windows.
I would ask that you save me from my stupidity, but I know that is a task too great for "any" users list. Could someone at least tell me how to make the changes, and why my meager efforts aren't working.
TIA
Bernd

Is the /windows directory FAT32 or NTFS? As far as I know the SuSE NTFS driver is read only. __________________________________________________________________ Try AOL and get 1045 hours FREE for 45 days! http://free.aol.com/tryaolfree/index.adp?375380 Get AOL Instant Messenger 5.1 for FREE!
