Hi All, When i try and write a video dvd with k3b on suse 9.1 with a verbatim 8x dvd i get the following error: :-( Failed to change write speed: 8310->11080 I have tried ignore speed but it trashed the dvd. But when i write to a verbatim dvd+rw dvd it writes the dvd. Why is this happening? I have the opposite problem. K3b can write DVD+R fine. It can write DVD+RW fine the first time. Trying to erase and write a second time always fails. Jeffrey

Attempt *overwriting* rather than erasing and you may be successful. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery

Correct. K3b DOESN'T erase DVDs, but overwrites data. Fred -- "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!" Brought to you by the US Department of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act(s) numerous Presidential Directives, etc.

Hi, this is known problem with DVD-R disks. +R are OK. You need to change the burning method from "Auto" to "Incremental". Or you can prepare the .iso image first, and then write the image. In the latest version of k3b the developer have changed the default to be "Incremental" for -R disks. Unfortunately, I can not benefit from this, as the latest version RPM prepared by guru is limiting it to KDE 3.3, and I' using 3.4. But anyway, if you use "Incremental", is should be OK for you. Cheers Sunny P.S. In future, please, add some more info about the system when you ask for help, like SuSE version, kernel version and the version of the problem application as minimum. -- Get Firefox http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates&id=10745&t=85
Thanks for the info but i am still getting the same
problem.
