Folks, I'd appreciate some help deciphering the meaning of several SUSE apt repository directories. Been researching apt repositories, and have found the long list w/r/t the sources.list file at http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/9.2-i386/examples/sources.list.FT... There are a whole bunch of different repository directories listed, including: rpmkeys base update-drpm update-prpm update kde misc xorg x-ati mozilla samba3 ximian suser-rbos suser-jengelh suser-oc2pus suser-guru suser-gbv suser-kpietrz suser-obengs suser-tcousin suser-tux suser-scorot suser-sbarnin suser-ollakka funktronics packman packman-i686 kernel-of-the-day kraxel wine suse-people suse-projects kde3-stable kde-unstable security-prpm security The meaning of many of these are obvious. But I can't figure out the reason for several of the repositories, such as update-drpm... Google is no help here. What does drpm stand for? What about prpm?, rbos?, jengelh?, oc2pus?, gbv?, kpietrz?, obengs?, tcousin?, scorot?, sbarnin? etc etc.... I'm not sure whether some of these are derivatives of grits, brussles sprouts or debian packages.... Thanks, Mike

dprm and prpm are updates. (Delta rpm and patch rpm if i'm not misstaken) suser-rbos and the rest are individual persons packages for various software -- /Rikard " Sharing knowledge is the most fundamental act of friendship. Rikard is right. every directory starting with suser is a directory of a person developing on tools. as far as i remember is in ollaka the XFCE for Suse. Every user has a special project. But you should be careful with those directories, cause they could have unstable stuff in 'em too. If you wanna only wanna update your system you shouldn't put suser, suse-people, suse-project and unstable in your source.list There is some documentation on that site (http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/) too. check out the hints link. cheers from Nuernberg Thomas
