I had lock-ups similar to this on occasion in the past, though only every few days, and randomly. I recently did a reinstall and it hasn't happened since. So I never learned what the problem was. I doubt it was hardware-related, since I'm still using the same hardware. ;-) And because I always have at least 4-5 programs running, and it's quite a few different programs depending on what I'm doing, I never determined if it was an individual program doing it. And that's not counting everything that's running in the background from startup, such as Apache. The only suggestion I can give is run your most common programs one at a time individually and see if anything happens. Switch desktops to see if the desktop is causing the problem. (I was in KDE3 when it happened. I'm still in KDE3 and it's not happening since the reboot, though I've upgraded it as well to 3.0.3.) In a worst-case, you can try re-installing SuSE. A minimal install, then add stuff a little at a time to find which program is causing the issue. I doubt you want to do this though, since it's time-consuming. Joe
