[opensuse] building 13.2 server, network's won't come up, get "wicked: cannot get dbus system bus handle" errors
I installed, and having been workingon configuring, a new 13.2 server. After a number of zypper updates some work in grub2, and no-errors in either grub2-mkconfig or mkinitrd, on reboot, I now get no network up at all. I get messages about : wicked: cannot get dbus system bus handle failed to connect to socket /run/dbus /run/dbus/system_bus_socket I don't have serial console up yet -- haven't gotten that figured out in grub2 yet. In journalctl I don't see anything that suggests a problem. But I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
From reading IIUC 'wicked' is a new, opensuse-only networking stack. Looks like it has its share of problems.
I can't find any posts about this specific error, or any docs. LT -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Those aren't really serious.

You add e.g. "console=ttyS1,115200n8"

How is your network configured? DHCP or static? Are the network cables connected? What happens if you do a simple "ifup <interface>" ?

I'm sure there are some, but unless you're some corner case, it actually works very well. I have seen complaints about using static routes and as well about the RDNSS from radvd. No, I don't think using static routes is a corner case, I just haven't experienced any issues myself. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (5.7°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - virtual servers, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
