This kernel has just arrived today.
It compiles OK excepts for 3 modules : impi, SA1100 & DEC Tsunami. It doesn't matter for me.
The VMware modules compile and install OK.
It installs without any error, BUT :
no more sound on my SB live 5.1 vmware freezes at power on, it seems to be a vmnet problem.
Did someone meet the same difficulties and solve the problem

GAC!!!! Send this direct to mantel not here... He should know immediatly. Glad I spotted this before I was tempted t update, normally his kernels are bulletproof..
Gotta ask, why not install his rpm's from the "next" dir instead of compiling?

Thanks for reply. I've at least 3 reasons to compile my own kernel : - I don't want to uninstall the original kernel for failsafe mode - I'm sure not to get version errors while compiling VMware modules - I've my own hardware to run. But in order to help I installed the compiled kernel and got the following : - no sound and the same "devices busy errors" while logging out - version error with vmware so I couldn't try Please tell me if you succeed in running this kernel which is a lot better with acpi. As you suggest, I'll forward this dialog to H Mantel. Catimimi.
