Hi guys, For some reason my own posts don't come back to me, but I can see them in the mailing list archive. I've checked the website and the mail I got back from opensuse-help, but it doesn't mention anything about setting that. Any ideas? Thanks Hans

It is a gmail problem. I have seen it discussed before. As I don't use gmail myself for this purpose I don't recall the solution. Perhaps it is enough to find back the thread where it was discussed. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Sie ist das Kostbarste, was wir haben, denn es ist unwiederbringliche Lebenszeit. Oh right, I'll check it out. Thought I'd move my mailing lists over to a gmail account :-( Thanks Hans

There is no solution. Gmail considers that both emails are duplicated, as both have the same 'Message-ID'. For reasons of their own gmail removes duplicates, and they only keep the first one they see; in this case, the local sent copy. Another symptom is that when somebody sends a reply to the list with private copy, gmail users only receive the direct copy because it arrives first. The only thing the OP can do is complain to gmail, use another account, or don't use gmail services for sending, only receiving. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFEVo5+tTMYHG2NR9URArE/AKCPvJ50e8nbYf3GQCjOCb5XXAEkyACeNSGm VDUf0K9gkV8y21YWgiQltII= =m/Xl -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Thanks Carlos, I understand. I wasn't going to send through gmail, but my ISP's smtp server rejects mail from gmail addresses if it doesn't come from gmail itself (it seems), so I have to send via gmail. Think I'll find something different to use. Not getting my own post right now isn't much of an issue, but I keep all these mails because I often refer back to them, and sometimes it helps to read my own question :-) Thanks Hans

What I have done is have postfix send mail through (one of) my providers smtp server. Recieving is done by simple fetchnmail pop3. The only thing I needed to change was (I think) "set envelope_from=yes" in .muttrc, because otherwise the reply would go to the wrong place somehow. houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. Hold on. You mean that email directed to you, sent from a gmail address, is rejected by your ISP's smtp, if not relayed through gmail? Ugh. If you want, I can send an email to you in that way, direct, using my gmail address, to test it. That would be because your isp is using DomainKey-Signature (I think) to determine if it comes from gmail or not. Too restrictive, a user can be using many addresses and only one smtp server for all. You could send it using your own postfix server in SuSE.

Well, you have it, but in another folder: It will be in your sent mail folder. If you have a filter to classify list mail, it will not match. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFEVp6mtTMYHG2NR9URAp+vAKCAgVMs7PprPAVSrcXeJP8mMmYMzwCfSLDI z6qyQac3+97OFs/Yz6DlJ78= =rVgk -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Always be careful to make such bold statements :-) I use Gmail, and I create a filter. The filter triggers on everything sent to "opensuse" and tags it with a label "openSUSE", and I also set it to skip the inbox. Everything to openSUSE mailing list then ends up in its own label (which is like a folder), including my own sent stuff. Peter 'Pflodo' Flodin

Nevertheless, you do not receive a copy of your sent email, as sent through SuSE list server, because it is considered duplicated. To this is what I mean there is no solution. - -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Made with pgp4pine 1.76 iD8DBQFEVqEFtTMYHG2NR9URAoOqAJwPn/EJxaAsPE1DBUnI0EIpN7TdhACZAfzA ewVhkAdLNtAb3pN6f16Mk1w= =4TO7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Well, there is a solution, but...
I receive my posts to the list and use a gmail address, but I am
utilizing my provider's smtp (relay) and it accepts my gmail address
from mutt using envelope_from

Have you checked you gmail spamfolder? In my experience these things sometimes work in mysterious ways. cb400f

Yes, and in my local one (I'm popping my gmail). It's just my own posts to the list. Thanks Hans
