[opensuse] XAA perfoms better than EXA but has bugs (Intel graphic card)
Hi, By default openSUSE 11.1 brings Xorg using EXA as accel. method. I have a Thinkpad T61 with an: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c) Always after I enter my password in KDM to login the screen shows a "visual noise", and also sometimes. But worst of all I find the performance lower than when I configure it to use XAA. So I change back to XAA in xorg.conf but the problem is that I cannot use suspend/hibernate if the Xorg is running with XAA (the active graphic desktop session crash returning to KDM after resume from suspend/hibernate); and sometimes I have experimented complete hangs (I think caused by XAA because they don't happend with EXA). The performance with XAA is much much better than EXA, but I must hope hangs and to disable suspend/hibernate if I want to use it (fact that I can't consider). https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462872 Section "Device" BoardName "965 GM" Driver "intel" Identifier "Device[0]" Option "XVideo" Option "DRI" Option "PageFlip" Option "TripleBuffer" # Option "AccelMethod" "XAA" Option "Tiling" Option "XVideo" Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps" Option "FramebufferCompression" Option "SaXDualHead" Option "SaXDualMonitorVendor" "--> VESA" Option "SaXDualOrientation" "LeftOf" Option "SaXDualResolution" "1024x768" Option "SaXDualMode" "Clone" Option "SaXDualHSync" "31-50" Option "SaXDualMonitorModel" "1024X768@60HZ" Option "SaXDualVSync" "50-60" Option "SaXExternal" "Identifier&EXT+DisplaySize&+VendorName&--> VESA+PreferredMode&1024x768+HorizSync&31-50+ModelName&1024X768@60HZ+VertRefresh&50-60" Screen 0 VendorName "Intel" EndSection Complete hardware profile: http://www.smolts.org/show?uuid=pub_3e1fcbe3-10de-4e3e-8bbd-47f1a8e572e8 rgds. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
