Hello all, Well, I've got my 8.0 installed and it's running very well. However, I've got a problem with my nvidia drivers. I installed the current 2880 drivers via Yast2 and I can run "Gears" fine. However Tux Racer won't run and when I try to run quake3, I get this error: Using XFree86-VidModeExtension Version 2.1 XF86DGA Mouse (Version 2.0) initialized XFree86-VidModeExtension Activated at 640x480 Using 8/8/8 Color bits, 24 depth, 0 stencil display. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to get the "glx" nvidia driver loaded instead. Thank you for your assistance. Charles __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? What happens when you run /usr/bin/3Ddiag?

As Maxwell Smart would say " Missed by that much "...You need to grab the nVidia 2880 GLX tarball and after you have it just put it in /tmp type this ' tar -zxvf <name of the tarball> ' and then cd into the directory it creates and type make. This doesn't compile anything it just moves the binaries to the proper place and makes the symlinks that should be there. After you've done this you should type ldconfig and if I'm right (and I usually am about nVidia stuff) you should be good to go. Please do all this as root and when finished enjoy yourself :) P.S. Remove all references to switch2 in your /etc/rc.config if your running 7.3 or below. Thank you and good night from the western front. ;) * Charles Griffin (cng3@yahoo.com) [020514 20:16]: ::Hello all, :: ::Well, I've got my 8.0 installed and it's running very ::well. Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. I am not at my Linux machine at the moment, but I will follow your suggestions tonight and report back. Thanks again for all the help. When I was running SuSE 7.2, I had to link directly to
the nvidia GLX driver. Linking to libGL.so.1 didn't
work. FWIW.

I thought I would try Tor's suggestion first since it seemed the easiest... and it worked perfectly! The libGL.so was indeed pointing to the mesa driver instead of the nvidia driver. Changing the link per his suggestion fixed the problem. Thanks to everybody for the help. Charles __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! By default, Quake 3 tried to use the Mesa GL drivers. You set it to use the NVIDIA drivers by running it with the "+set r_gldriver /LOCATION/OF/YOUR/GLDRIVER.so" option. That should make it use to correct one. Doug --
