[opensuse] Digikam question / problem
I just did an upgrade to 11.1 after an hd crash (had 11.0). When I try and run digikam ?(digikam/ kde3 0.9.4)it does not recognise my camera ( Sony DSC- S90 ), ( also not even seen as a plugged in device, again it was ok in 11.0 ) before I picked something close and it ran without problems. What should I look at first?? I am downloading 11.2 to try on another machine and will test the camera there just in case... Thanks, Mike -- 2.6.27.37-0.1-default GNU/Linux -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It happens to the best of us. Just an FYI, it was posted to the list 4 times. Mike, Nothing shows up under /var/log/messages with your camera in the other "mode", is that right? I'm not sure what to add, but to troubleshoot could you - try another application other than digikam? - try under another desktop? I hate to bring this up because my memory of the details are vague, but at one time I had trouble with KDE3 under 11.0 recognizing a digital camera. After some searching I found that there was a package called (I believe) kgegraphics3-camera which I had installed which was interfering with other KDE applications accessing it. The solution was to unistall that package. After that there were no problems. Maybe you are missing a package (or have an extra one)? Sorry I can't be more help, but I hope something here is useful. -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well with 11.1 the camera is not recognized when plugged in, but it is seen by digicam ok and I can d/l the photo's fine. I did an install with 11.2 on another machine, no other packages installed and when I plugged the camera in it was recognized for make not model and given the option to open with Digicam just like in 11.0. I guess I am all set for now, looks like there may just be something missing from the device database in 11.1 .
