[opensuse] 2ManDVD complains about :ffmpeg depend
Running 2ManDVD it complains that the missing dependency of :ffmpeg is missing. I installed the ffmpeg perl module through cpan, however it still complains. Googling hasn't resulted in much help. Any one else have this problem? -- Michael S. Dunsavage -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No. Help me here, Michael. Why CPAN? I start with # zypper info --requires 2mandvd | grep ffmpeg ffmpeg ffmpegthumbnailer and then # zypper se ffmpeg Building repository 'openSUSE-11.4-Oss' cache [done] Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... S | Name | Summary | Type --+-----------------------------------+-----------------------------------------+----------- i | ffmpeg | A complete solution to record, conver-> | package I find out what the package actually is. As you can see I have it installed # rpm -q -a | grep ffmpeg ffmpeg-0.8.git.20110713-1.1.i586 Lets see what it is # rpm -q -i ffmpeg-0.8.git.20110713-1.1.i586 Name : ffmpeg Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 0.8.git.20110713 Vendor: VideoLAN Project (http://www.videolan.org) Release : 1.1 Build Date: Wed 13 Jul 2011 04:52:12 AM EDT Install Date: Thu 14 Jul 2011 07:50:50 AM EDT Build Host: messiah Group : Productivity/Multimedia Source RPM: ffmpeg-0.8.git.20110713-1.1.src.rpm Size : 299848 License: GPL v3 Signature : DSA/SHA1, Wed 13 Jul 2011 04:54:00 AM EDT, Key ID 33de8fb7c8da93d2 Summary : A complete solution to record, convert and stream A/V Description : FFmpeg is a complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. No. Help me here, Michael. Why CPAN? Well, some googling and the fact it's written in perl, I saw the ::ffmpeg error and thought that would fix the problem because I do indeed have ffmpeg installed....
So, now that we are on the same page, how do I fix this problem? is the videolan version different than the pacman version of ffmpeg? -- Michael S. Dunsavage -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I recommend you throw away the perl thing and install the one from videolan. Pacman? No idea. In context it doens't matter. The once from videolan was sufficient for when I just installed 2ManDVD Why make this more complicated? -- The scars of others should teach us caution. -- Saint Jerome, Letter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Why make this more complicated? Well I don't know. I even uninstalled 2ManDVD and reinstalled it and it still complains .
I did manage to get a DVD to burn w/ devede earlier, but no sound in it. I'll see how bombono does when it's done and then maybe uninstall ffmpeg and reinstall it. -- Michael S.
